Staying at Country House Resort was an excellent choice. Enjoyed the gardens, the trails, the cookies, and the quietness. Cant wait to return in 07/06/09 Donna Cedar Rapids, Iowa 7/6/2009
Your beautiful setting- off the road, fantastic water view, lovely grounds with attractive gardens. No children. A perfect romantic getaway! Thank you. Nancy Appleton, WI 6/24/2009
Although the room was your typical hotel room, the view, balcony and attitude was anything but typical! Highly recommended! Genavine Cudahy, WI 6/5/2009
What a great place!! The room was clean and smelled great-thank you so much for being a non-smoking facility, as opposed to some places where the rooms always smell like a pool hall. The heater worked great, the gray notebook on the table had a ton of useful information in it, and the cleaning staff was very helpful when we needed them. The room price was very reasonable, and all of the front-desk people were very friendly. The breakfast selection was terrific-instead of just throwing out the bare minimum every morning, there is REAL food, and lots of choices. And the location is absolutely perfect-its beautiful, just far enough off of the highway to be isolated and quiet, but just a short trip to wherever you want to get to. 2 big thumbs-up from us!! The Country House has the most beautiful overlook facing Lake Michigan of any resort in Door County. It is just far enough from the hiway and neighbors and children to be perfectly peaceful, and 27 acres for 46 rooms is a nice ratio. We found the desk staff, that is, Scott and Art, informative and ready to help us at every turn. The free breakfast isnt just perfunctory; this very Scandinavian Breakfast Board will give you reason to pop out of bed in the morning, very interested in which fruit topping will accompany the yogurt. The location is perfect if you wish to occasionally take the long commute over to Baileys Harbor (ten minutes) or to the fish boil at the White Gull ( ten minutes.) Or to the ferry ride over Deaths Door to Washington Island (ten minutes.) And yet, when you are again safely back on the grounds of the Country House, you may have the odd feeling that you have been transported to a very different time and place, in and among elegant gardens, overlooking the sea.
